Citi Price Rewind
Update: This perk and many others are being removed from the Citi American Airlines Platinum card as of September 22, 2019.
Citi Price Rewind is a unique perk you won’t find on many credit cards.  When you pay for registered items at select online merchants, Citi will automatically check for a lower price at other merchants.

If the same item is found at a lower price within 60 days of your initial purchase date, you may receive reimbursement of the price difference.  To be eligible for coverage, you must pay for the item at least in part with your Citi American Airlines credit card.
Coverage is limited to the lesser of $200 or the amount charged to your card.  And the maximum coverage is $1,000 per calendar year.

Extended Warranty

By paying for an eligible item with the Citi American Airlines Platinum Select card, you can extend the manufacturer’s warranty by an additional 24 months (total coverage between both the manufacturer’s warranty and extended warranty cannot exceed 84 months).
My friend’s $2,500 flat screen television recently stopped working just after the manufacturer’s warranty expired. But ure enough, he paid with the Citi American Airlines card. With this coverage, my friend was able to file a claim and received a $2,500 reimbursement from Citi for the full cost of the television!
You can check the complete Guide to Benefits to check exclusions and to learn how to file a claim.
Travel Coverage
Update: These perks and many others are being removed from the Citi American Airlines Platinum card as of September 22, 2019.
When you pay for travel with your Citi American Airlines card, including award flight taxes & fees, you’ll get these coverage’s:

Baggage delay – Get up to $100 per covered traveler if your bags are delayed 6+ hours
Trip delay – Get up to $500 per covered traveler to pay for meals and hotels if your trip is delayed 12+ hours
Trip cancellation & interruption – You may be reimbursed up to $5,000 per covered traveler per trip if the trip is cancelled or interrupted for an eligible reason

Having automatic travel protection is a fantastic perk that can save you a lot of money in the long run.

Is the American Airlines Credit Card Worth the Annual Fee?
The card has a $99 annual fee, which waived for the first 12 months. This means you can test out the card for ~11 months and decide if it’s worth keeping for another year. If you fly American Airlines, the free checked baggage perk alone could be enough to make the card worth keeping. Read our post on why the Citi American Airlines Platinum Select is worth it.
How to Use Miles From the Citi American Airlines Credit Card
The best way to use the 50,000-mile Citi American Airlines credit card sign-up bonus depends on your travel goals. Some folks might prefer to stretch the bonus for more short-haul coach award flights. And others may want to splurge for a fancy Business Class award seat.
You can use American Airlines miles to book award flights directly on the airline. Or you can book partner award seats on airlines like Alaska Airlines, British Airways, Hawaiian Airlines, and more.
You can book most partner award flights online, although there are a few exceptions, like Cathay Pacific, Etihad, or Japan Airlines.  To book these partner award flights, you must call American Airlines at 800-433-7300.
Awesome Trips to Take With the Citi AAdvantage Platinum Select Bonus
Here are a few examples of what you can do with 50,000 American Airlines miles:

Book 6 short-haul flights within the US or Canada. One-way flights 500 miles or less cost only 7,500 American Airlines miles
Book a round-trip award ticket to Bolivia, Colombia, Ecuador, and Peru for 40,000 American Airlines miles in coach
Get 2 round-trip coach award tickets within the continental US (award seats cost 25,000 American Airlines miles each)
Book a round-trip coach ticket to Hawaii for 45,000 American Airlines miles

The above examples are the cost of low-level Saver award seats. These are the cheapest award flights you can book, which sometimes require you to be flexible with your travel dates. That said, American Airlines also offers standard award flights you can book without having to worry about blackout dates, but these require you to use a lot more miles.
Does the Citi American Airlines Card Have a Foreign Transaction Fee?
No.
Who Is Eligible for the Citi American Airlines Card?

Remember, Citi will not let you earn the sign-up bonus from more than one personal card of the same “brand” within 48 months. For example, if you’ve opened or closed the Citi® / AAdvantage® Executive World Elite Mastercard® in the past 48 months, you would not be eligible for the Citi® / AAdvantage® Platinum Select® World Elite Mastercard® sign-up bonus.
Bottom Line
It’s a great time to consider applying for the Citi American Airlines Platinum Select credit card to boost your stash of American Airlines miles. You’ll earn 50,000 American Airlines miles after you spend $2,500 on purchases within the first 3 months of account opening. Plus, you can earn a $125 American Airlines flight discount after you spend $20,000 or more in purchases during your card year and renew your card.
Collecting American Airlines miles can make a lot of sense, even if you never fly on the airline. Because you can redeem miles for award flights on partner airlines, like British Airways, Cathay Pacific, Etihad, and several others!
The sign-up bonus can get you so much closer to your next vacation. And cardholders also enjoy many other fabulous perks, like preferred boarding and free checked baggage.

Best Citibank Credit Card for Small Purchases:   Citi Rewards+ Card
Apply Here:   Citi Rewards+℠ Card
Read our review of the Citi Rewards+ card
The Citi Rewards+ card is the only credit card that automatically rounds up to the nearest 10 points on every purchase – with no cap!  So if you buy something for say, $2, you’d earn 10 Citi ThankYou points for the purchase.
You’ll earn 15,000 Citi ThankYou points when spend $1,000 on purchases within the first 3 months of opening your account.  And there’s NO annual fee.
Plus, you’ll earn 2 Citi ThankYou Points per $1 spent at gas stations and supermarkets (on up to $6,000 per year, then 1X).
If You Make Lots of Small Purchases, the Citi Rewards+ Will Help You Earn More Points Faster
Arguably the card’s best perk is 10% back on all your redemptions (on the first 100,000 point you redeem per year).
It’s especially valuable when you combine all your Citi ThankYou card accounts, because this benefit works when you redeem ThankYou points earned from other cards, too!
Best Citibank Credit Card for Cash Back:   Citi Double Cash Card
With the Citi Double Cash card, you’ll earn 1% cash back on all your purchases.  And as long as you pay at least the minimum payment each month, you’ll earn an additional 1% cash back on your payments.  That’s a great cash back rate for a card with NO annual fee!
Use the Citi Double Cash Card to Take the Sting out of Paying Bills
Here’s more about this card:

There is NO limit on how much cash back you can earn
You will NOT earn cash back on credit card fees, interest, cash advances, returned items, and balance transfers
Cash back expires if there is no activity on your card for 12 months

You will also pay foreign transaction fees with this card.  So it’s NOT a good idea to use it overseas.
The Citi Double Cash card is perfect if you don’t want to deal with complicated award booking rules or blackout dates.  It’s a quick and easy way to earn up to 2% cash back for purchases you’re going to make anyway.
And because the card doesn’t have an annual fee, it makes sense to keep it year after year.  This will help improve the age of your accounts and increase your credit score.
Best Citibank Credit Card for Travel Perks:   Citi Prestige Card
Lots of folks love their Citi Prestige card because of its incredibly lucrative perks.  It has one of the best benefits of any travel rewards credit card – the 4th night free perk!
With this benefit, you’ll get the 4th night free (based on the average cost per night) on any hotel stay of 4+ nights when you book through Citi (online or over the phone).  The Million Mile Secrets team has saved $1,000s by taking advantage of this unique card perk.
But remember, you won’t earn hotel points or elite night credits when you book your stay online through the Citi ThankYou travel portal.  So if that is important to you, be sure to book through the Citi Prestige Concierge by phone at 561-922-0158 or email at [email protected]
And beginning September 1, 2019, you’ll be required to book through the Citi ThankYou portal to get the 4th night free.  And it will be capped at twice per year.
For more on how this benefit works, read our post on upcoming Citi Prestige changes.
The Citi Prestige Card’s 4th Night Free Benefit Can Save You Big Time at Expensive Hotels, Like the Park Hyatt New York
Currently, the Citi Prestige has a 50,000 Citi ThankYou point welcome bonus after spending $4,000 on purchases in the first 3 months of account opening.
The Citi Prestige card’s value doesn’t stop with the 4th night free perk.  It also earns transferable Citi ThankYou points and has lots of other valuable benefits like:

5 Citi ThankYou points per $1 spent on air travel and dining
3 Citi ThankYou points per $1 spent on hotels and cruise lines
1 Citi ThankYou point per $1 spent on all other eligible purchases
$250 travel statement credit per year (December through the following December) for most travel-related purchases
$100 statement credit for the Global Entry application fee (once every 5 years)
Priority Pass Select membership – free access for you and up to 2 guests or immediate family (spouse / domestic partner and children under 18)
No foreign transaction fees on purchases

The $495 annual fee is NOT waived the first year.   But offsetting the annual fee is easy with all of the card’s lucrative perks.
Are You Eligible for the Bonus on the Citi Card You Want?
Remember, you can NOT earn the bonus on more than one personal Citi card of the same “brand” within 24 months.  So, for example, if you’ve opened or closed the Citi American Airlines Executive card in the past 24 months, you would NOT be eligible for the Citi American Airlines Platinum Select card’s sign-up bonus.
The exception to this rule is if you have opened or closed the Citi American Airlines Business Platinum card.  You could still be eligible to earn the sign-up bonus on the Citi American Airlines Platinum Select card because Citi says:
American Airlines AAdvantage® bonus miles are not available if you have had any Citi® / AAdvantage® card (other than a CitiBusiness® / AAdvantage® card) opened or closed in the past 24 months.
And you can open the American Airlines AAdvantage MileUp card if you’ve opened or closed any other American Airlines card.
The same rule applies to Citi ThankYou cards as well.  So you won’t be eligible for the Citi Premier card’s bonus if you opened or closed the Citi Prestige, Citi ThankYou Preferred, Citi Rewards+℠ Card, or Citi Premier card in the last 24 months.
Maintain a Healthy Credit Score While Applying for Credit Cards
Earning lucrative sign-up bonuses can be a cheap way to travel.  But if you don’t think you’ll be able to pay off your credit card IN FULL each and every month, then it’s not the right time for you to get into this hobby.  Credit card interest and fees will quickly eat away at any potential savings you might earn.
I have found it easy to maintain a healthy credit score while still applying for multiple credit cards.  But if you don’t already have a good credit score (700+), then you’re much less likely to be approved for the best Citi credit cards.
If you don’t know what your credit score is, you can get it for free at myBankrate.com.
Bottom Line
We ranked 8 of the best Citibank credit cards by category.  Here’s our list:

CitiBusiness AAdvantage Review: This Card Has THE Best American Airlines Sign-Up Bonus Available!

Looking to really boost your American Airlines miles balance to save money on airfare?  Consider the CitiBusiness® / AAdvantage® Platinum Select® World Mastercard®.
This card has the best sign-up bonus among any of the American Airlines credit cards, including the Citi personal American Airlines cards or Barclays American Airlines credit cards.  For a limited time, you can earn 70,000 American Airlines miles after meeting minimum spending requirements.  That’s enough for a one-way Business Class award flight to Paris or 9 short-haul flights within the US!
Here’s our CitiBusiness AAdvantage review!
Folks in Chicago and Charlotte Can Book Short-Haul Flights to Awesome Cities Like Nashville for 7,500 Miles! Using Miles This Way Can Really Stretch the Value of the 70,000-Mile Citi American Airlines Small Business Card Bonus
I’m considering adding this card to my wallet and using the sign-up bonus toward a First Class ticket on Etihad from Australia to Abu Dhabi, which costs 100,000 American Airlines miles.  Paying cash for the same ticket would easily cost more than $9,000.  So earning this sign-up bonus could put a nice dent in the number of miles I’d need for this award and help me get a really neat flying experience!
You can apply for the Citi American Airlines small business card here.  Besides the lucrative sign-up bonus, one of the huge advantages of considering this card is it will NOT appear on your personal credit report.  Savvy miles & points enthusiasts know that limiting the number of cards that appear on your personal credit report won’t impact your chances of opening new cards with other banks that have strict card limits.
Keep in mind, the card’s annual fee is waived the first 12 months.  So you can test out the perks for ~10 or ~11 months to decide if paying the annual fee in the second year is worth it.
Citi American Airlines Business Card Review:  The Sign-Up Bonus Can Get You $1,500+ Worth of Airfare!

When you sign-up for the Citi American Airlines Platinum Select small business credit card, you’ll earn 70,000 American Airlines miles after making $4,000 in purchases within the first 4 months of account opening.
The best way to use the 70,000 American Airlines mile bonus depends on your travel goals.  For example, lots of people prefer to redeem miles for luxurious international First Class flying experiences they wouldn’t otherwise book with cash.  And some love the idea of using miles for quick weekend trips or getaways to visit friends and family.
If you plan ahead, having miles could help you save money on holiday travel.  For example, I found round-trip flights from Charlotte to San Francisco around Thanksgiving.  Cash prices for flights around this time tend to increase.  I found flights for ~$550+.
But you could use 25,000 American Airlines miles for the same round-trip award flight.
You Could Redeem American Airlines Miles to Book Award Flights Home for Thanksgiving
Or you could use 65,000 American Airlines miles for a round-trip flight to Tokyo.  You’ll have at least 74,000 American Airlines miles after you complete the minimum spending, anyway!  These tickets can sell for more than $1,500 depending on your departure city.
Keep in mind, the amount of taxes, fees, and fuel surcharges can vary by award flight depending on which airline you’re flying.  So it’s important to do the math to see if it makes sense to use miles for an award or pay cash and use miles for a different flight in the future.

How to Earn Miles With the Citi American Airlines Business Credit Card

It’s easy for Citi American Airlines Platinum Select small business cardholders to boost and replenish their miles balances because you earn:

2X American Airlines miles per $1 spent on American Airlines flights
2X American Airlines miles per $1 spent at telecommunications merchants, cable and satellite providers, car rental merchants, and gas stations
1X American Airlines mile per $1 spent on other purchases

Using the Citi American Airlines Business Card to Pay for Certain Rental Cars Can Boost Your Miles Balance Quicker! Because You’ll Earn 2 American Airlines Miles per $1 on These Purchases!

There’s a special benefit for big spenders.  You’ll earn an American Airlines companion certificate after you spend $30,000 or more in purchases during your card year and renew your card.

67,500 American Airlines miles for 9 short-haul flights within the US or Canada.  One-way flights 500 miles or less cost only 7,500 American Airlines miles

With a Single Sign-Up Bonus You Can Be On Your Way to Peru to See Machu Picchu for Yourself!
The above examples are the cost of low-level Saver award seats.  These are the cheapest award flights you can book, which sometimes require you to be flexible with your travel dates. That said, American Airlines also offers standard award flights you can book without having to worry about blackout dates.  Although these require you to use more miles.
Booking Example:  Dallas-Fort Worth to Lima, Peru Round-Trip for 2 People (~$1,900 Value)
One of the great things about the American Airlines award chart is the ability to book off-peak awards for fewer miles to certain destinations.  This is true for American Airlines flights to the South America Region 1 (Bolivia, Colombia, Ecuador, and Peru), where round-trip off-peak flights cost just 35,000 American Airlines miles each in coach.
For this region, off-peak dates are January 16 to June 14, and September 7 to November 14.  With this pricing, you could use the CitiBusiness AAdvantage Platinum Select welcome bonus for TWO round-trip flights to Lima, worth ~$1,900!
Here’s how.  Navigate to aa.com and enter your departure and destination airport, dates, and number of passengers.  Click “Redeem Miles”, otherwise you’ll just see paid prices.  In this example I’ve searched for flights between Dallas and Lima, but the same principle applies for other award searches.  Click “Search” to proceed.
Note:   You don’t have to be signed into your American Airlines account to search, but you’ll be prompted to do so if you want to continue with a booking.
Start Your Search for an Award Flight on the American Airlines Website by Entering Your Travel Details and Selecting “Redeem Miles”
The next screen shows available low-level saver award coach seats in green.  You’ll see there are seats available on and around our travel dates.  Confirm your dates and hit “Continue“.
Confirm Your Dates and Select “Continue”

You’ll then have the opportunity to select specific flights for your outbound and return.  Keep an eye on connection times and overnight flights!  This particular example has very long connections in Miami.
Select Your Outbound and Return Flights Based on What Fits Your Schedule
Once you’ve picked your flights, you’ll end up on a final booking screen with a summary of your trip.  In this case, you’ll pay 35,000 American Airlines miles and ~$73 in taxes and fees per person.  Remember, you’ll have enough miles for 2 people after meeting the minimum spending requirements on the Citi American Airlines Platinum Select small business credit card.
You Could Redeem the 70,000-Mile CitiBusiness AAdvantage Card Bonus for 2 Round-Trip Flights to Lima
Next, you’ll be asked to enter traveler and payment information before you firm up your booking.  You’ll receive a confirmation number shortly after via email.  It’s not much different from searching for a paid flight.
To compare, this exact itinerary retails for ~$1,055 per person if you paid cash.  So if you and a pal took this trip, after accounting for taxes and fees, you’d get ~$1,900 worth of flights from a single credit card.  That’s a nice deal!
You’ll Get an Excellent Value From Your American Airlines Miles for This Trip

Benefits of the Citi American Airlines Business Credit Card
Read our post on Citi American Airlines Business Credit Card benefits and perks

Besides a lucrative sign-up bonus, there are other ongoing benefits that make the Citi American Airlines small business credit card worth adding to your wallet.
American Airlines Travel Benefits
With the Citi American Airlines Platinum Select small business credit card, you’ll get:

Free first checked bag for you and up to 4 travel companions on the same reservation (domestic American Airlines flights only)
Enjoy preferred boarding on American Airlines flights
25% savings on in-flight food, drink, and Wi-Fi purchased with your card
Companion Certificate after you spend $30,000 or more in purchases during your card year and renew your card

The American Airlines companion certificate is an interesting benefit that can definitely save you money on airfare.  To use the certificate, the primary cardholder must purchase a round-trip coach ticket on an American Airlines flight within the continental US.  So you can NOT use it for flights to Alaska or Hawaii.
After purchasing qualifying airfare, you’ll pay a $99 companion ticket fee plus ~$22 to ~$43 in taxes and fees to add a friend or loved one to your flight.  You’re only eligible to redeem the certificate one time.  And you can NOT redeem the certificate for travel on oneworld partners like British Airways.
Travel Is Always More Fun When You Can Bring a Friend or Loved One Along and You Can Save Money at the Same Time!  The American Airlines Companion Certificate Has Potential If You Travel With a Pal
The terms & conditions also say there are blackout dates, which are provided when you receive the certificate.

Complimentary Employee Cards
If you have employees in your business, you can add them to your account and provide them with employee cards.  The nice part about this is all of the miles they earn from purchases will accumulate in your account.  Adding employees to your account can also help you meet minimum spending faster to unlock the sign-up bonus!

Is the American Airlines Business Credit Card Worth the Annual Fee?
The card has a $99 annual fee, which waived for the first 12 months.  This means you can test out the card for ~11 months and decide if it’s worth keeping for another year.  If you fly American Airlines, the free checked baggage perk alone could be enough to make the card worth keeping.  Here’s our post to help you decide if the CitiBusiness American Airlines card is worth it.
Does the Citi American Airlines Business Credit Card Have a Foreign Transaction Fee?
No.
Who Is Eligible for the Citi American Airlines Business Credit Card?

Read our post on how to qualify for a small business credit card
You must have a small business to qualify for the Citi American Airlines Platinum Select business credit card.  But this doesn’t mean you’ll need a huge multi-million dollar corporation.
I qualify for small business credit cards with an eBay side hustle by consistently selling items online for a profit.  You too could qualify with side gigs like freelance writing and photography or renting an Airbnb.  And keep in mind, you can apply for small business credit cards using just your social security number.
Perhaps You Make Some Extra Side Income as a Photographer! If so, You Could Qualify for the 70,000-Mile Sign-Up Bonus on the Citi American Airlines Small Business Card!
And if you’ve had a personal version of the Citi American Airlines card, you can still qualify for the small business version because it’s considered a different card product. Taking advantage of personal and small business cards that earn the same type of miles is my trick for earning lots of rewards!
Bottom Line
With the Citi American Airlines Platinum Select business credit card, you can earn 70,000 American Airlines miles after spending $4,000 on purchases within the first 4 months of account opening.
This is a huge sign-up bonus that can get you more than $1,500 worth of airfare!  You can even consider using the bonus miles to splurge on a luxurious flying experience, like a Business Class award flight to Tokyo or India.
American Airlines miles are useful for flights on partner airlines, like Alaska Airlines and Cathay Pacific.  So if you can’t find American Airlines award seats, there’s an opportunity to still redeem your miles to save on flights!
It’s great that the card’s annual fee is waived the first year.  This gives you an opportunity to test out the card and its perks to decide if it’s worth keeping for years to come.  Most folks who fly American Airlines like to keep it because you save on baggage fees!

Is the Citi American Airlines Platinum Select Business Card worth it?

A Look at the Citi Premier Benefits and Perks – Worth More Than Just the 50,000 Citi ThankYou Point Bonus

I have the Citi Premier℠ Card.  I originally opened it for 2 reasons:

The sign-up bonus (currently worth at least $625 in travel), which you’ll earn after meeting minimum spend requirements
The bonus miles on gas (an effective 3.75% back in travel rewards at gas stations)

But the card has other ongoing benefits that are helpful to travelers, too, besides all those Citi ThankYou points you can earn.  I’ll spell out the most important card benefits of the Citi Premier to help you decide if it’s worth opening (and keeping!).
The Citi ThankYou points I earned with this card made my Mexican adventure even cheaper
Citi Premier Benefits and Perks
Apply Here:   Citi Premier℠ Card
Read our review of the Citi Premier℠ Card

When you sign-up for the Citi Premier card, you’ll earn 50,000 Citi ThankYou points after spending $4,000 on purchases within the first 3 months of account opening.
The points you earn are flexible, which means you can use them in several different ways.  Perhaps the most popular is by transferring your points to any of Citi’s airline partners, such as:

Avianca
Etihad
Flying Blue (Air France / KLM)
JetBlue
Singapore Airlines
Virgin Atlantic

This can be of great value.  For example, you can book a round-trip coach flight to Hawaii on United Airlines by transferring 35,000 points to Singapore Airlines.
Or, you can use the points to book travel through Citi’s ThankYou travel portal, where they’re worth 1.25 cents each toward flights, hotels, rental cars, and cruises.  That means this sign-up bonus is worth – at a minimum – $625 in travel (50,000 points X 1.25 cents per point).  That’s a great deal, considering the annual fee is waived the 12 months!
I used Citi ThankYou points to cover the rental car during my visit to Cancun.  That way I had more money for sensible purchases like an exorbitantly priced Mexican palm leaf straw fedodo.
You only YOLO once
This bonus is a one-time thing, though.  It’s not an ongoing bonus.  Here’s what you can expect year after year when you open the Citi Premier.
Solid Earning Rate for Road Warriors
With the Citi Premier, you’ll earn:

3 Citi ThankYou points per $1 spent on travel including gas stations (also including airfare, hotels, car rental agencies, parking, tolls, and much more)
2 Citi ThankYou points per $1 spent at restaurants and on select entertainment (like amusement parks, museums, sporting events, movies, and more)
1 Citi ThankYou point per $1 spent on all other purchases

Earning 3 Citi ThankYou points is like earning 3.75% back towards travel.  That’s because you can redeem Citi ThankYou points through Citi’s online portal for 1.25 cents each toward airfare, hotel, rental car, etc (3 Citi ThankYou points X 1.25 cents each = 3.75 cents).
When I signed-up for the Citi Premier, I was driving 3 hours per day for work.  Because of the generous travel earning rate (including gas stations), I earned ~10,500 points my first year on gas alone.
Baggage Delay Insurance
If you pay for your ticket at least in part with your Citi Premier card (or with Citi ThankYou points), you and your immediate family will receive up to $100 each if your bags are delayed 6+ hours.  Your immediate family will even be covered if you aren’t with them!
This benefit isn’t as generous as other cards like the Chase Sapphire Preferred, which can give you up to $500 per traveler for delayed bags.  You can read more about that here.
Trip Delay Insurance
Again, when you pay for your ticket with either your Citi Premier or ThankYou points, you’ll be covered in the event of a trip delay of 12+ hours.  You and your immediate family can receive up to $500 for reasonable expenses like hotels, meals, and transportation!
Trip cancellation & interruption
You may also be reimbursed up to $5,000 per covered traveler per trip if your trip is canceled or interrupted for certain reasons pertaining to illness, personal matters, or travel or weather issues such as:

Becoming too ill to travel (with proof from a medical practitioner)
Getting laid off or fired from your job
Getting killed
Severe weather causes all travel to stop for at least 24 hours to or from your destination

Hopefully you’ll never have to use this, but it’s nice to know you have it!
Citi Price Rewind

Citi Price Rewind is a unique perk you’ll find on all Citi personal cards.  When you pay for registered items at certain online merchants, Citi automatically checks for a lower price at other merchants.  If they find the same item at a lower price within 60 days of your initial purchase date, you may receive a credit for the price difference!  To be eligible for coverage, you must pay for the item at least in part with your Citi card.
Harlan uses Earny to completely automate his Citi Price Rewind claims.  It’s especially helpful for tracking price drops on Amazon!
Harlan makes good use from his Price Rewind benefit. Depending on how much you purchase, this benefit alone could make up for the annual fee!
You’re limited to a reimbursement of $200 per item.  And the maximum coverage is $1,000 per calendar year.

Citi Private Pass
Citi Private Pass allows you to purchase tickets to events like concerts and sports before they’re released to the public.  You can even buy special VIP packages, depending on the event you plan to attend.

Extended Warranty

By paying for an eligible item with the Citi Premier card, you can extend the manufacturer’s warranty by an additional 24 months (total coverage between both the manufacturer’s warranty and extended warranty cannot exceed 84 months).
Citi’s Extended Warranty Coverage is a good way to protect your big-ticket purchases, like a giant TV!
Check out the complete Guide to Benefits to check exclusions and to learn how to file a claim.
Bottom Line
The more you know about your credit card benefits, the more cash you can save.  If you truly use every perk that comes with the Citi Premier, it’s an absolute no-brainer.
The Price Rewind feature can save you cash if the item you purchased drops in price within 60 days of your purchase.  The travel benefits cover you as long as you pay at least in part with your Citi Premier.
And that’s not to mention the solid earning rates you’ll receive on travel and gas stations, along with the sign-up bonus worth $625 in travel!

Power Up Your Citi ThankYou Points Balance With a New No-Annual-Fee Card That Earns a Minimum of 10 Points Per Purchase

There is a brand spanking new no-annual-fee credit card from Citi and it has some pretty unique perks
Right now, you can earn 15,000 Citi ThankYou points when you open the Citi Rewards+ Card and spend $1,000 on purchases within the first 3 months of opening your account.
This card also earns 2X Citi ThankYou Points at gas stations and supermarkets (on up to $6,000 per year, then 1X).  Plus, on every purchase the points you earn will be rounded up to the nearest 10.  For example, if you bought a $2 candy bar you’d earn 10 Citi ThankYou points and there is no limit to the number of points you can earn with this perk.
The card’s welcome bonus is worth at least $150 in gift cards or travel booked through the Citi travel center.  But it can be worth even more if you have the Citi Premier Card.  I’ll explain why that’s the case and help you figure out if this is the right card for you.
You can apply for the Citi Rewards+ card here.
You Can Use Citi ThankYou Points to Book a Tropical Beach Vacation Through Citi’s Travel Center
Citi has some interesting application restrictions that apply to the Citi Rewards+ card, which will impact whether or not this is the right card for you to apply for.  Here’s what you need to know.
The Citi Rewards+ Sign-Up Bonus Is Worth at LEAST $150 Toward Travel!
Apply Here:   Citi Rewards+ Card

With this card you can earn 15,000 Citi ThankYou points after you spend $1,000 on purchases within the first 3 months of opening the account.
The points you earn with this card can be redeemed for gift cards or used to book travel through Citi’s travel site at a rate of 1 cent each.  So it’s easy to get $150 in value from the bonus.
But there are ways to potentially make your points MUCH more valuable.  I’ll explain more on that in a bit.

How to Earn Points With the Citi Rewards+ Card

The Citi Rewards+ card has a couple of bonus categories that earn you 2X Citi ThankYou points per $1:

Supermarkets
Gas Stations

The bonus on these purchases only applies to the first $6,000 you spend per year, after that you’ll earn 1X point per $1.  All other purchases will earn 1 Citi ThankYou point per $1.
Also, the points you earn on every purchase will automatically be rounded-up to the nearest increment of 10.  So you’ll never make less than 10 points on a purchase.
Collect 2X Citi ThankYou Points at Supermarkets With This Card
For example, if you spent $25 at the mall, instead of only earning 25 Citi ThankYou points you would earn 30 points.  This also means that a $1 purchase would earn 10X Citi ThankYou points.
This perk makes it a great card for small purchases, but I can see some people trying to abuse this benefit.  Personally, I think making boatloads of 10 cent purchases on the card is a terrible idea for 2 reasons:

Time is more valuable than Citi ThankYou points (hard to believe I know)
Your account could get shut down

There is a mention of misuse and abuse in reference to this perk in the terms and the consequence can include forfeiting your points or having your account closed or suspended.

How to Power Up Your Citi ThankYou Points

Link:   How Much Are Citi ThankYou Points Worth
You can redeem the Citi ThankYou points you earn the following ways:

Gift cards (1 cent per point)
Travel booked through Citi’s travel center (1 cent per point)
Cash back as a statement credit (.5 cents per point)
Shop with Points at Amazon or BestBuy ( ~.8 cents per point)
ThankYou Select & Credit (~.75 cent per point toward certain purchases)

As you can see there is almost no reason to ever redeem your points for anything other than gift cards or to book travel (flights, hotels, cruises, rental cars).  If you’re planning on making a purchase at Best Buy, it’s better to use your points for a gift card.  You will need at least 2,500 points to redeem for a gift card.
With the Citi Rewards+ card you’ll also get 10% back on all your redemptions (on the first 100,000 point you redeem per year).  So that increases the value of these redemptions slightly.
But your Citi ThankYou points can be worth a lot more if you have the Citi Prestige® Card or Citi Premier℠ Card.
Depending on Which Citi ThankYou Points Earning Card You Have, You Can Transfer Your Points to Flying Blue and Book Awards Flights With Air France
With both of those cards, you’ll unlock the ability to transfer your Citi ThankYou points to a bunch of different airline loyalty programs.  Here’s a a step-by-step guide on how to combine Citi ThankYou points from different accounts.
Currently, you can transfer Citi ThankYou points to the following airlines if you have the Citi Premier or Citi Prestige:

Avianca
Asia Miles (Cathay Pacific)
EVA Air
Etihad Guest
Flying Blue (Air France / KLM)
Garuda Indonesia
Jet Airways
JetBlue
Malaysia Airlines
Qantas
Qatar Airways
Singapore Airlines
Thai Airways
Turkish Airlines
Virgin Atlantic

Citi ThankYou points transfer at a 1:1 ratio with all of the above partners, and all transfers must be in 1,000-point increments.  You can also transfer Citi ThankYou points to Sears Shop Your Way rewards at a 1:12 ratio (1 Citi ThankYou point = 12 Sears points).
Also, with the Citi Prestige or Citi Premier℠ cards, you can redeem your points for 1.25 cents each toward airfare booked through the Citi travel site.  Although this perk is going away for the Citi Prestige card on September 1, 2019.  From that date on, Citi Prestige cardholders will be able to redeem points through the Citi travel center for 1 cent each toward travel.
The nice thing about paying for flights with Citi ThankYou points is you’ll still earn frequent flyer miles because it’s treated like a cash ticket!  And you won’t have to worry about blackout dates or trying to find an award seat on the flight you want.

Benefits of the Citi Rewards+ Card

In addition to the sign-up bonus the Citi Rewards+ card has other benefits and it doesn’t have an annual fee.  So it’s worth keeping long term.
Citi Price Rewind

Citi Price Rewind is a unique perk you’ll find on all Citi personal cards.  When you pay for registered items at certain online merchants, Citi will automatically check for a lower price at other merchants.
If Citi finds the same item at a lower price within 60 days of your initial purchase date, you may receive a credit for the price difference!  To be eligible for coverage, you must pay for the item at least in part with your Citi card.
Coverage is limited to the lesser of $200 or the amount charged to your card per item.  And the maximum coverage is $1,000 per calendar year.

Does the Citi Rewards+ Card Have an Annual Fee?
No, so it makes sense to hold onto this card long term to increase the age of your accounts, which can improve your credit score.
Does the Citi Rewards+ card have a foreign transaction fee?
Yes.
Who Is Eligible for the Citi Rewards+ Card?

Link:   Citi Rules Restrict Sign-Up Bonuses to Once per “Brand” Every 24 Months
Remember, Citi will NOT let you earn the sign-up bonus from more than one personal card of the same “brand” within 24 months.  The terms say:
Bonus ThankYou® Points are not available if you received a new cardmember bonus for Citi Rewards+℠, Citi ThankYou® Preferred, Citi ThankYou® Premier/Citi Premier℠ or Citi Prestige®, or if you have closed any of these cards, in the past 24 months.
So if it’s been less than 24 months since you opened or closed the Citi Prestige, Citi ThankYou® Preferred Card, or Citi Premier Card, you aren’t eligible to earn the bonus, even if you are approved for the card.
Also, keep in mind that the Citi Premier card currently has a much larger sign-up bonus than the Citi Rewards+ card.  And if you open a Rewards+ card right now, you won’t be able to earn the bonus on the Citi Premier for at least 24 months!
Credit Cards Similar to the Citi Rewards+ Card
The Citi Rewards+ card earns Citi ThankYou points which can only be transferred to travel partners if you also have either the Citi Prestige or Citi Premier card.  The problem is getting this combo could take you 2 years because of the application restrictions I mentioned.
So if you’re looking for a no-annual-fee card that earn points that can be transferred to travel partners (when combined with the right partner credit card), you’ve got some other options.
Some Cards Become More Powerful When They Are Partnered With Other Credit Cards
For example, if you have one of the no annual fee Chase Freedom cards (Chase Freedom or Chase Freedom Unlimited®), you’ll earn Chase Ultimate Rewards points with them.  But those points can’t be transferred to Chase’s travel partners unless they are pooled onto one of these annual fee cards:

Ink Business Preferred℠ Credit Card
Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card
Chase Sapphire Reserve®

You can read more about why it is so useful to combine Chase Ultimate Rewards points earning credit cards here.  But these cards are restricted by the Chase “5/24” rule, so if you’ve opened 5 or more cards from any bank (not included certain business cards) you won’t be eligible for a new Chase credit card.
If you don’t qualify for Chase credit cards, you could apply for the Amex EveryDay® Credit Card.  It has no annual fee and earns AMEX Membership rewards points that you can transfer to AMEX’s travel partners without needing to partner it with another AMEX card!
The information for the Amex EveryDay® Credit Card, Chase Freedom, and Chase Freedom Unlimited cards has been collected independently by Million Mile Secrets.  The card details on this page have not been reviewed or provided by the card issuer.
Bottom Line
Right now the Citi Rewards+ card has the highest sign-up bonus and best perks of any no-annual-fee card that earns Citi ThankYou points.  The ThankYou points you earn with the card are worth 1 cent each toward gift cards or travel booked through the Citi ThankYou portal.
You’ll also get a 10% points rebate on redemptions for the first 100,000 point per year.  And the card has a unique perk – on every purchase the Citi ThankYou points you earn will be rounded up to the nearest 10.  So a $2 latte will still earn you 10 points (do they even sell $2 lattes anymore?).
But your points can be worth a lot more if you have the Citi Prestige or the Citi Premier Card because with these cards, you’ll have the ability to transfer your points to Citi ThankYou’s airline partners.
You can apply here for the Citi Rewards+ card.

When you sign-up for the Citi ThankYou® Premier Card, you’ll earn 60,000 Citi ThankYou points after spending $4,000 on purchases within the first 3 months of account opening.
This is the best offer we’ve seen for this card!  The points you earn are transferable, which gives you more flexibility by letting you access Citi’s airline partners.  And it’s an excellent reason to open the card.

In addition to the valuable sign-up bonus, there are other ongoing benefits that make the Citi ThankYou Premier worth keeping long term.  The card’s benefits were tweaked on July 29, 2018.  So you can check the Guide to Benefits if you’ve not reviewed it yet!
Here are the standout benefits of the card.
Citi Price Rewind

Citi Price Rewind is a unique perk you’ll find on all Citi personal cards.  When you pay for registered items at certain online stores, Citi will automatically check for a lower price at other merchants.
If Citi finds the same item at a lower price within 60 days of when you purchased an item, you may receive a credit for the price difference!  To be eligible for coverage, you’ll need to pay for the item at least in part with your Citi card.
Team member Harlan uses this perk ALL THE TIME.  He uses Earny to completely automate his Citi Price Rewind claims.  He says it’s handy for tracking price drops on Amazon.
Most of the price rewind refunds are small, but those can add up fast!  Honestly, it’s entirely possible to offset the Citi ThankYou Premier‘s annual fee with this benefit alone.
My Boy Harlan Be Shoppin’
Coverage is limited to the lesser of $200 or the amount charged to your card.  And the maximum coverage is $1,000 per calendar year.

Extended Warranty

When you pay for an eligible item with the Citi ThankYou Premier, it’s possible to extend the manufacturer’s warranty by an additional 24 months (total coverage between both the manufacturer’s warranty and extended warranty cannot exceed 84 months).  That’s better than a LOT of other cards.
Here’s a chart to see how Citi extends your warranty.
You Can Extend the Manufacturer’s Warranty on Eligible Items by up to 24 Months
Coverage is limited to the lesser of the following:

The cost to repair or replace the item
The purchase price of the item
The amount charged to the Citi Card (including ThankYou Points)
$10,000 per item

There are several excluded purchases, like cars, tires, plants, animals, etc.  You can check the complete Guide to Benefits to check exclusions and to learn how to file a claim.
90 Day Return Protection
If you try to return an item within 90 days of when you purchased it and the merchant won’t take it back, Citi may refund you up to $300 per item, up to $1,000 total per year.  Just make sure you pay in full with your Citi ThankYou Premier or with Citi ThankYou points.
This benefit can only be used for items you buy in the US.  So if you find a lower price on those Russian Nesting Dolls you purchased from that gypsy in Red Square, Citi won’t accept your claim.
90 Day Return Protection has similar restrictions to Extended Warranty benefit.  There are several items that don’t qualify.  Again, you can read the benefits guide for a full list.
Travel Coverage
When you pay for travel with your Citi ThankYou Premier, including award flight taxes & fees, you’ll be covered for lots of awful possibilities.  To qualify for these benefits, you’ll need to pay for at least a portion of your common carrier fare (planes, trains, cruises, ferries) with your Citi ThankYou Premier.
Airlines, Trains, Cruises, and Ferries Are All Considered “Common Carriers”
You and your entire family traveling with you can be covered with these perks!  As a matter of fact, your family members are insured even if you’re NOT traveling, so long as you pay with your card.
These benefits are secondary, so if the common carrier reimburses you for anything, this will only kick in for the things they don’t cover.
Trip Delay Insurance
You’ll get up to $500 per covered traveler to pay for things like meals, ground transportation, and hotels if your trip is delayed 12+ hours.  You can even buy other necessities, like toiletries, and have those reimbursed.
Trip delay insurance will kick in for reasons like:

The airline decides to cancel or delay your flight
Your passport, money, or other critical documents are lost or stolen
There is severe weather or natural disaster
Pilots go on strike and ruin your itinerary

Baggage Delay / Lost Baggage Insurance
You’ll get up to $100 per covered traveler if your bags are delayed 6+ hours.
And if the common carrier straight up loses your bag, each covered traveler can receive up to $3,000 per trip (New York residents are covered for $2,000 per bag), up to $10,000 in total for all covered travelers.
If Your Bags Haven’t Been Lost or Delayed, It’s Only a Matter of Time!
Trip Cancellation & Interruption Insurance
You may be reimbursed up to $5,000 per trip if the trip is cancelled or interrupted.  An eligible reason would be:

A medical professional advises you not to travel due to injury or sickness
You’re laid off or fired from your job
You die
Severe weather halts all travel to your destination for 24 hours

Just make sure you notify your common carrier as soon as possible that you’re canceling or changing your plans.
Having automatic travel protection is a fantastic perk that can save you a lot of money.  But hopefully you’ll never have to use it!
Car Rental Insurance
Wrap your rental car around a tree?  You’re covered up to $50,000 toward the cost of repairs or the cash value of your rental car, whichever is less in the event of a covered accident or theft.
There are a couple super important details here.
First, this coverage is secondary in the US.  So if you have auto insurance, this will only cover what your personal insurance doesn’t.  But internationally, the coverage is primary.
Also, the length of your rental car agreement must be no more than 31 days.
Nothing Sickens Your Stomach More Than Damaging Your Rental Car
You’re covered for the following misfortunes:

Your car is damaged in an accident or natural disaster
Your car is vandalized
Your car is stolen

Credit card rental insurance has save me THOUSANDS in the past.  I scraped my car against a pole, and my credit card reimbursed me the full amount the rental agency charged me (well over $2,000!).
Bottom Line
If you use the full spectrum of benefits that come with the Citi ThankYou Premier, you shouldn’t have any trouble justifying the annual fee.  Just make sure you don’t have other cards in your wallet that already come with benefits like this.  You don’t want to continue to pay more annual fees than you need to!
Citi Price Rewind can save you up to $1,000 per year, depending on how much you shop.  And with the primary insurance for international rental cars, you’ll avoid spending ~$15 per day on the rental agency’s in-house coverage.  Which can add up quickly!
I definitely recommend at least trying out the Citi ThankYou Premier card.  You’ll earn 60,000 Citi ThankYou points after spending $4,000 on purchases within the first 3 months of account opening.  And its $95 annual fee is waived the first 12 months, so you don’t have anything to lose!

With the American Airlines AAdvantage MileUp card, you’ll earn 10,000 American Airlines miles and a $50 statement credit after spending $500 on purchases in the first 3 months of account opening.  That’s more than enough for a short-haul domestic coach flight, and a nice deal for a card with no annual fee.
Even if you already have a different Citi American Airlines card, you’re eligible for this sign-up bonus because Citi’s tighter application rules don’t apply to this card.
10,000 American Airlines Miles Is More Than Enough for a Short Domestic Flight!
There are certainly higher intro offers on other Citi American Airlines cards, but this is a decent bonus for a no-annual-fee credit card!
Turn Everyday Purchases Into American Airlines Miles
The American Airlines AAdvantage MileUp card comes with a solid return on everyday spending with no limit on the number of miles you can earn.
You’ll earn:

2 American Airlines miles per $1 on eligible American Airlines purchases
2 American Airlines miles per $1 at grocery stores, including eligible grocery delivery services
1 American Airlines mile per $1 for all other purchases

You’ll Earn 2 American Airlines Miles per $1 Spent at Grocery Stores – With NO Limit
Unlike other Citi American Airlines credit cards, the MileUp includes grocery stores as a bonus category.  So if you spend a lot on groceries and you are looking to earn American Airlines miles, this card is a great choice!
Note:   You won’t earn bonus miles for grocery purchases at Walmart and Target.  Thanks to reader Ed. C for pointing out this also excludes Walmart Neighborhood Markets.
American Airlines AAdvantage MileUp Benefits
The Citi American Airlines MileUp card does not come with a ton of perks and benefits.  For example, you won’t get a free checked bag or priority boarding.
BUT you will save 25% on in-flight purchases of drinks or snacks when you use your card on American Airlines flights.
Save 25% on In-Flight Food and Drink When You Use Your Citi American Airlines MileUp Card
Is the American Airlines AAdvantage MileUp Worth the Annual Fee?
Absolutely, because the AAdvantage MileUp has no annual fee!  Keeping no-annual-fee cards for the long term can increase your average account age and possibly boost your credit score.
Does the American Airlines AAdvantage MileUp Card Have a Foreign Transaction Fee?
Yes.  If you travel outside the country, this is a card you’ll want to leave at home.
Who Is Eligible for the American Airlines AAdvantage MileUp Card?
Because this card is exempt from Citi’s tougher credit card application rules, you are eligible for the Citi American Airlines MileUp card even if you have another Citi American Airlines card, like:

Citi® / AAdvantage® Platinum Select® World Elite Mastercard®
Citi® / AAdvantage® Executive World Elite Mastercard®
CitiBusiness® / AAdvantage® Platinum Select® World Mastercard®

That said, if you’re new to miles and points, it’s always best to get the Chase cards you want first.  That’s because they have some of the most valuable welcome bonuses for Big Travel.  And if you’ve opened 5 or more credit cards in the past 24 months, you likely won’t be approved for most of their cards.
Alternatives to the American Airlines AAdvantage MileUp Card
For a bigger sign-up bonus, check out the Citi® / AAdvantage® Executive World Elite Mastercard® or the CitiBusiness® / AAdvantage® Platinum Select® World Mastercard®.  Both are offering increased intro bonuses at the moment!
The Increased Welcome Bonuses on Other Citi Cards Can Get You a Business Class Flight to Asia on Partner Cathay Pacific
But be prepared for higher costs:  The 70,000 American Airlines mile bonus from the CitiBusiness® / AAdvantage® Platinum Select® World Mastercard® requires spending $4,000 on purchases in the first 4 months of account opening and comes with a $99 annual fee, waived for the first 12 months.  Here’s our review of the CitiBusiness AAdvantage Platinum Select.
Want an even larger bonus?  You can earn a 75,000 American Airlines mile bonus from the Citi® / AAdvantage® Executive World Elite Mastercard®, but you’ll have to spend $7,500 on purchases in the first 3 months and pay a $450 annual fee.  Check out our review of the Citi AAdvantage Executive.
Bottom Line
The American Airlines AAdvantage MileUp℠ Card is a great option for folks who want an easy and inexpensive way to earn American Airlines miles.  This card has no annual fee and earns 2 American Airlines miles per $1 on eligible American Airlines purchases, 2 American Airlines miles per $1 on groceries, and 1 American Airlines mile per $1 on all other purchases with no limit!
And it currently offers a 10,000 American Airlines mile bonus, plus a $50 statement credit after you spend $500 on purchases within the first 3 months of account opening.  And you’re eligible for the MileUp card even if you already have other Citi American Airlines cards!
For a no-annual-fee card, the Citi AAdvantage MileUp card offers a generous intro bonus in exchange for a very low spending requirement.  There are alternative Citi cards with larger sign-up bonuses, but be prepared for annual fees and higher spending requirements.
So if you’re interested in carrying a simple American Airlines mile-earning card with no annual fee, the American Airlines AAdvantage MileUp℠ Card is a good one to consider, especially if you’ve already earned the welcome bonus on other more valuable Citi American Airlines cards.

When you sign-up for the Citi ThankYou Premier card, you’ll earn 60,000 Citi ThankYou points after spending $4,000 on purchases within the first 3 months of account opening.
This is the best offer we’ve seen for this card!  The points you earn are transferable, which gives you more flexibility by letting you access to Citi’s airline partners.
Or, you can use the points to book travel through Citi’s ThankYou travel portal, where they’re worth 1.25 cents each towards flights, hotels, rental cars, and cruises.  That means this sign-up bonus is worth – at a minimum – $750 (60,000 points X 1.25 cents per point).  That’s a great deal, considering the annual fee is waived the 12 months!
Or, you can transfer points to Citi’s travel partners, including Flying Blue (the loyalty program for Air France and KLM), Singapore Airlines, and Virgin Atlantic.
Citi ThankYou Points Add up Quick!  I’ve Used Them to Visit Several Cities in Europe, and Got to Stroll Around the Canals in Amsterdam
I’ve personally transferred Citi ThankYou points to travel partners to take my family to Hawaii, fly to Europe on Brussels Airlines, and hop between Prague and Brussels for my flight home.
Having more flexible points is always a good thing!  And even if you use the points to cover $750 worth of flights, that’s still a fantastic deal.

How to Earn Points With the Citi ThankYou Premier Card

The points add up fast with the Citi ThankYou Premier card.  Especially if you spend a lot on travel, dining, or entertainment.  That’s because you earn:

3 Citi ThankYou points per $1 spent on travel including gas stations (also including airfare, hotels, car rental agencies, parking, tolls, and much more)
2 Citi ThankYou points per $1 spent at restaurants and on select entertainment (like amusement parks, museums, sporting events, movies, and more)
1 Citi ThankYou point per $1 spent on all other purchases

Rack up 3X Citi ThankYou Points on Travel, Including Gas Stations!
For example, if you completed the $4,000 minimum spending requirement with travel and gas purchases, you’d earn the 60,000-point bonus and 12,000 more points ($4,000 X 3), for a total of 72,000 Citi ThankYou points.  That would be worth at least $900 for travel (72,000 points X 1.25 cents per point)!
Team member Jasmin uses this card every time she fills up her gas tank.  Of course, only when other cards don’t have better quarterly category bonuses!
If you have a big family or commute to work, you can earn a ton of points on gas alone.

Depending on the price of the flights you want, your dates, and if you can find award seats, you might decide to use your Citi ThankYou points this way because you won’t have to think about blackout dates or searching for awards.

Benefits of the Citi ThankYou Premier Card

In addition to the valuable sign-up bonus, there are other ongoing benefits that make the Citi ThankYou Premier card worth keeping long-term.

I Shop on Amazon Constantly and Regularly Save a Few Bucks Here and There With Citi Price Rewind
Coverage is limited to the lesser of $200 or the amount charged to your card.  And the maximum coverage is $1,000 per calendar year.
I personally use Earny to completely automate my Citi Price Rewind claims.  It’s especially helpful for tracking price drops on Amazon!

Extended Warranty

By paying for an eligible item with the Citi ThankYou Premier card, you can extend the manufacturer’s warranty by an additional 24 months (total coverage between both the manufacturer’s warranty and extended warranty cannot exceed 84 months).
Protect Your Big Purchases With Citi’s Extended Warranty Coverage. Especially Expensive Electronics!
You can check the complete Guide to Benefits to check exclusions and to learn how to file a claim.
Travel Coverage
When you pay for travel with your Citi ThankYou Premier card, including award flight taxes & fees, you’ll get these coverages:

Baggage delay – Get up to $100 per covered traveler if your bags are delayed 6+ hours
Trip delay – Get up to $500 per covered traveler to pay for meals and hotels if your trip is delayed 12+ hours
Trip cancellation & interruption – You may be reimbursed up to $5,000 per covered traveler per trip if the trip is cancelled or interrupted for an eligible reason

Having automatic travel protection is a fantastic perk that can save you a lot of money.  But hopefully you’ll never have to use it!

Is the Citi ThankYou Premier Card Worth the Annual Fee?
The card has a $95 annual fee, which waived for the first 12 months.  This means you can test out the card for ~11 months and decide if it’s worth keeping for another year.
If you spend a lot in the bonus categories, and like the ways to redeem your points, it’s worthwhile to hang on to this card long-term.  Or, if you want to keep a card with price protection and extended warranty coverage, this one makes it easy to use those benefits.
Does the Citi ThankYou Premier card have a foreign transaction fee?
No.
Who Is Eligible for the Citi ThankYou Premier Card?

Link:   Citi Rules Restrict Sign-Up Bonuses to Once per “Brand” Every 24 Months
Remember, Citi will NOT let you earn the sign-up bonus from more than one personal card of the same “brand” within 24 months.
Citi says:
Bonus ThankYou Points are not available if you have had a ThankYou Preferred, ThankYou Premier or Citi Prestige card opened or closed in the past 24 months.
So if it’s been less than 24 months since you opened or closed the Citi Prestige® Card, Citi ThankYou® Preferred Card, or Citi ThankYou® Premier Card, you aren’t eligible to earn the bonus.
Customer Support for the Citi ThankYou Premier Card
Citi has great fraud protection and monitor your accounts for suspicious activity.  Team member Jasmin has gotten texts to confirm if she made certain purchases.
And I’ve found hold times to be short when I’ve had to call Citi.  Every time, customer support has been thorough and professional, even when I’ve asked detailed questions about travel rewards or card benefits.
Credit Cards Similar to the Citi ThankYou Premier Card
If you’re just starting out with miles & points, or looking to open a card that earns transferable points, I recommend the Chase Sapphire Preferred.  That’s because it earns bonus points in similar categories, including 2X Chase Ultimate Rewards points on travel and dining.
If You Love to Travel, There Are Other Cards to Consider First, Like the Chase Sapphire Preferred, Which Has 2 of the Same Bonus Categories
Also, you can also transfer your points to Chase’s excellent travel partners, like British Airways, Hyatt, or United Airlines.  And, like the Citi ThankYou® Premier, points are worth 1.25 cents each when you book travel through Chase.  Both cards even have the same $95 annual fee – and they’re both waived the first year.
If you want a super premium card with even more travel benefits, consider the Chase Sapphire Reserve.  It has a $450 annual fee.  But the outstanding perks can more than offset it, especially if you love to travel!
Bottom Line
We don’t know how long this best-ever sign-up bonus of 60,000 Citi ThankYou points after meeting minimum spending requirements will be available with the Citi ThankYou® Premier Card.  So if you’re interested, I recommend applying sooner rather than later!
Each point is worth 1.25 cents when you book travel through Citi.  So this offer is easily worth $750 toward travel.  And potentially much more when you transfer points to Citi’s travel partners, like Flying Blue or Singapore Airlines.
Remember, you’ll also have access to perks like Citi Price Rewind for price protection, and extended warranty protection.  Those can come in handy for big ticket purchases like expensive electronics!
The $95 annual fee is waived the first year.  And if you spend a lot in the bonus categories, which include travel, gas stations, dining, and entertainment, it could be worth keeping year after year.
The most similar card is the Chase Sapphire Preferred, which is the one I recommend for beginners.
