Few Words & Images About Bucharest.
July 26, 2016January 15, 2017 Posted in , Tagged Bucharest, , , , Leisure, , , , , , , TTOT, , Wander, 10 Comments Few hours are not enough to explore a charismatic city like Bucharest.
So which is the best place to visit in a short time.

I asked my friend and she quipped: Old Town

Located in the centre of Bucharest

Old Town attracts many tourists across the globe.
Filled with numerous bars, cafes and restaurants , the old town is quite popular among locals and tourist alike.

Locals fondly call the area Centru Vechi (the Old Centre)

It is difficult to say which restaurant is better than the other, .

But I strongly recommend Hanul lui Manuc

(Hanul lui Manuc – 62-64 Franceza St)

The food as well as the ambience here is amazing.

I managed to capture the beauty of Bucharest’s iconic Palace of the Parliament

the second largest administrative building in the world. If you are in the city, you should include this in your itinerary.
Well, .

My Bucharest story ends here as I did not have much time to explore this city

Bucharest, I promise, I will be back.

May 10, 2016January 21, 2017 Posted in , , Tagged , , Braosv, , , , Romanian Food, , , , , , 7 Comments Welcome to Brasov, a Romanian city which will charm you with its medieval Saxon walls, Gothic-style Black Church, castles and cosy cafes.

Although Braosv is not as popular as big European cities such as London and Paris

it still manages to attract thousands of tourists every year.
I was there for few days and was completely mesmerised by its beauty.
From bar-hopping to sight-seeing, I ensured that I leave nothing behind in exploring this city, .

Which is surrounded by the Carpathian Mountains

I spent few hours at Town Hall Square (Piata Sfatului), quenched my thirst with famous Romanian beer Ursus and watched the surrounding structures.
I took a cable car to the Tampa Mountain and enjoyed the breathtaking views of Braosv.
Recommended places: Take some time out and visit Sergiana restaurant.
Their food is utterly buttery delicious.
Jekelius – Pharmacy Cafe: Perfect ambiance.
So is the drink.
Festival 39: It is all about good ambiance and amazing crowd.
Excellent climate and friendly people made me fall in love with this charming city.

Cycle couples in Europe in Greece in Mykonos with best local team

Romance.  Hands down, Greece is one of the top romantic destinations in the world.    So it is natural for cycling couples to find their way to Greece to soak in its amorous atmosphere.   Many couples take a CycleGreece honeymoon, such as, the Zemmels from New York City who biked through the small villages in the Arcadia Mountains, or the Hydes from California who luxuriated on two wheels for two weeks in the Cyclades.  The Hennings of Seattle shared their 30th anniversary with other bikers on our Sacred Sites guided tour.
Different Paces.  You might think couples prefer self- guided tours so they can be alone to savor the precious quality-time moments a vacation offers.  Yet, many couples opt for our scheduled tours and not just to meet new faces.  One influential factor is because partners often ride at different paces, which can be frustrating for both.  But in a scheduled group tour, the faster partner can ride with those at his or her speed and the slower partner need not feel pressured to keep up and can enjoy pedaling with similar level riders.
One Bikes, the Other Doesn’t.  If one partner’s passion is cycling and the other is lukewarm about the sport.

That could create an obstacle for vacations.   But CycleGreece offers a solution

our Cyclades islands tour, either as a scheduled tour or self-guided The cyclist doesn’t ride from one overnight destination to the next, but rather the couple travel by ferry together from island to island.  This allows the non-cycling partner to hang out at the beach or stroll and sight see in town while the other bikes around the island.   Our Drive&Bike tours might appeal to a non-biking partner, too.   Also, on our Sail&Cycle tours the non-biker can visit the harbor town or relax on the yacht’s deck while the partner takes an island spin.
Trip Recommendation : For couples who want to maximize their non-biking time together, we suggest Argo Saronic Self-Guided tour because the daily mileage is less than other tours allowing more time to hang out arm-in-arm or holding hands while strolling the romantic harbor streets of Nafplio, Poros and Spetses.

For youngsters we offer the Ideal Freeder

Our fleet of bicycles for adult sizes consist of road bikes 49” to 60”, hybrid bikes 49” to 58” and electric bikes 50” to 58”.    The road and hybrid bikes are Specialized brand and the e-bikes are Sinus.  Road bikes have thicker treads to prevent flats.  The seats are fairly wide and padded or choose racer style.  If your bike size is not listed, don’t fret, we have access to comparable bicycles.   We do not rent our bicycles; they are part and parcel of the tour package.  Bicycles are included in the cost of every tour, with the exception of electric bikes which are an upgrade for 300 euros for an eight day tour.    ROAD BIKE.

Our Specialized Allez road bikes were built for speed and comfort

The bikes combine minimal weight, razor sharp handling, and exceptional efficiency.   They feature feather light aluminum frames with carbon fiber front forks.   For cyclists wanting Drop Handlebars we offer the Allez Sport, 18 gears, double chain ring, 34/50 crank set front and 11/32 rear cassette.  See Allez Sport Specs.  For cyclists wanting Flat Handlebars we offer the Triple Allez, 27 gears, triple chain ring, 30/42/52 crank set front and 12/25 rear cassette.

See Triple Allez Specs CARBON ROAD BIKE

The Tarmac Sport boasts Specialized’s award-winning pedigree with a FACT-carbon frame and fork.  It is adorned with a Shimano 105 22-speed drive train and strong, dual-pivot brakes for maximum control.   The Sport’s steering geometry and wheelbase are identical to higher-end Tarmacs.   An avid cyclist will practically float up ascents on the Tarmac.     See Specialized Tarmac Sport Specs  HYBRID BIKE.

Our Specialized Crossroads XC Expert bicycles are built for adventure and comfort

They are constructed of sturdy and lightweight aluminum frames which are supplied with front suspension forks to smooth out the ride.
The bikes have triple chain rings with 27 gears and flat “H” handlebars.
They ride lightweight onroad while durable for offroad trails.

See Hybrid Specs ELECTRIC BIKE

The Sinus Tria 9 e-bike is a trekking bike designed long distance tours.  It is sturdy

reliable, easily maneuverable and comfortable.  It is a pedelec which means the motor will not take effect unless it is turned on and you pedal.   The e-bike is non-governing in compliance with European regulations that cap speeds at 25 k/p/h.  The bike weighs 13 kg, 28 lbs but, like all e-bikes, the excess weight is trumped by the power boost.
The five drive modes — Off, Eco, Tour, Sport, Turbo — are easily accessed via the control unit mounted on the handlebars.  The 500 watt li-ion battery permits distances up to 250km, 155 miles at an average speed of 20 km/h on Eco mode.   On a single charge the e-bike covers 90 km, 56 miles.   The Bosch compact rapid charger weighs less than 600g, .

1.3 lbs and fully charges in two hours.   See Tria 9 Specs KIDS BIKE

For youngsters we offer the Ideal Freeder, a 26” mountain bike with large and small sizes suitable for short heights at 1.45m, 4’9” to taller heights at 1.65m, 5’4”.
The Freeder has 21 gears, .

Front suspension and Shimano V-brakes.   Short adults can also ride the Freeder

A smaller mountain bike is the 24” Beretta suitable for short heights at 1.20m

3’11” to taller heights at 1.45m, 4’9”.  The Beretta has 18 gears, front suspension and Shimano V-brakes.
Trek tag alongs, also known as pedal trailers, enable kids to bike with parents in a safe way because the child’s bike and the adult’s bike are connected.
Instead of a front wheel, the bike has a bar that hitches to the adult ’s seat post.  The child can pedal forward, backward or coast.  Tag alongs are for youngsters ages four to nine weighing no more than 35 kg, 77 pounds.
The bike has an orange safety flag.
The Burley Bee trailer fits one to two toddlers ages four and under weighing up to 45 kg, 100 pounds.  The full trailer with towbar, hitch and safety flat weighs 20 pounds, 9 kg.    The interior height is 27.5”, 70cm and seating width 22.5”, 57cm.   Protection from the elements includes a window cover with UV sun blockage of 96% and a water resistant cover.   The Burley has ample reflective materials and comes with an orange safety flag.
> Our Bikes If you are a human and are seeing this field, please leave it blank.

you never lose those muscles.  Our eldest CycleGreece rider

The beauty of biking is that age doesn’t inhibit the enthusiast.   So long as you continue to bike regularly, you never lose those muscles.  Our eldest CycleGreece rider, Dr.

Peter Klopfer of Duke University

was 83 years old and pedaled every single stretch with the group.   Then there’s the indefatigable Louise Taylor, a three-time CycleGreece client from Olympia Washington, who spent her 70th birthday in Rhodes on her first tour with us.
Convenience.  Seniors who opt for a Guided Tour do so because there is always the convenience of a vehicle support.  If you get fatigued, just hop in the van.  If you want cold water, the van carries a cooler.  If you don’t feel like carrying your day pack on your back or street shoes on your rack, leave ’em in the van.   The support vehicle holds spare parts; if you get a flat, the driver grabs a fully pumped spare wheel and before you can refill your water bottle you’re ready to get back in the saddle.
Seniors Only.
From time to time we offer Seniors Only tours where you can ride with cyclists more inclined to bike at your same pace and who may likely share your sensibilities about what you want to see, do and experience on your Greece cycling holiday.   If you would like to participate in a Seniors Only tour, give us a holler and we’ll make best efforts to arrange another one.
Trip Recommendation: Taking a ferry can be daunting if you have to walk your bike and luggage together on and off the boat amidst the “organized chaos” that erupts when a ferry docks.  On the Cycle Cyclades guided tour all the luggage is in the vehicle and the bikes on the rack above.  You carry nothing.  It’s a piece of cake embarking and disembarking on this tour’s four ferry transfers.
Electric Bicycles:   E-bikes were surely invented by a senior.  They are the perfect solution when you want to keep cycling those long, hilly rides but you might have run out of steam in later life.  Stay in the game by giving yourself a boost with a little electric energy.   Read  about e-bikes in Our Bikes.
